Dabang - A story with no story

There is something about this movie which pulls people to the theaters. Even i am one of them. I felt this pull but i did not think about the reason as i wanted first to watch it and then to think.

Gone are the days when we used to have such themes. But its quite good to watch those things of cinema which are kind of obsolete now. Of course there were something new as well which you wont find in the old cinema.

Truly speaking, when i used to watch trailer of this movie on TV, i used to feel that the there is some kind of story with some gravity but the movie turned out to be without story. It seemed like just a small conclusive event surrounded by other smaller events which are almost exclusive. The impression of Sonu Sood(Chhedi Singh) created by the trailers did not meet the expectation and i felt he did not have much to do in the movie. The same is true for the Sonakshi Sinha(i have forgotten even here name in the movie) but that is excusable as in movies of this genre, female actors are supposed, implied and restricted to enjoy this much freedom to act.

Salman Khan is definitely the most appealing factor and specially his new look with moustache. And in my opinion, he has really acted well for the scope he had. Somehow he is getting more impressive with his look and style. When we look at his dance, he has done well there as well. Of course his expressions and dialogues have made his act more appropriate and touching.

Another factor to pull the crowd is songs. "Munni Badnam Hui Darling Tere Liye" is one of those types which let you enjoy the song without any concentration and effort.

Overall if I talk about the movie, I will say, its a complete entertainer. Although it was not up to the expectation i had before watching it, but i definitely enjoyed the movie and was quite happy to have the feeling i had after watching it. You can say, the movie is not having story or subject or any particular theme apart from showing the life of the protagonist having a good heart and the way he perceives good and bad. Of course his view of good is in a bit twisted from the traditional one or according to some, good with modern shade or the good which is appropriate in the modern circumstances.

Sure the movie has the touch of those bollywood movies of 80's where the emphasis was on a person's goodwill and some events were defined to surface his goodwill. For some people, this movie can ignite the nostalgic feeling and if you have this feeling, it may not let you think about the disappointment you may have from the movie.
